PRESS RELEASE:
Tupac vs.
Shining serpent thankful to God - Translation of Tupac Shakur
"I really did believe at one point, right up until the moment I got shot, that no black man would ever shoot me, I was their representative"
"I wish everyone in the industry luck, I really do thereıs enough loot for us all. But I will say, I already took 5 bullets and I donıt plan on taking no more". THE UNRELEASED TUPAC SHAKUR INTERVIEW This documentary film needs to be seen by everyone. Forget anything you think you may know about hip hop legend Tupac Shakur; forget everything that's gone before just watch it.
The startling centrepiece of the film is the previously unreleased interview with Tupac Shakur, filmed during his time at a correctional centre in 1995, just one year before he was killed. Wholly new, unreleased material of Tupac at his most reflective, a completely new, unexpected version of the thug that crashed into the scene in the early nineties.
Sometimes a piece of work arrives that makes you want to get a copy in the hands of all the juveniles, the policemen, the intellectuals, the politicians, the thugs, the parole officers, the community leaders, the criminals, the activists, the doubters and of course the journalists.
"Trust nobody, my closest friends turned on me. Fear is stronger than love"
From Tupacıs beginnings, his utter contempt for his poverty, the progression of his political work and the eventual diagnosis of thug life this documentary is also the first truly comprehensive overview of his life and music. News footage shows a viscous, vindictive thug raging against mainstream culture, but the filmıs interview depicts a fiercely intelligent, introspective man who was slowly becoming aware of his status as a ghetto saint, a faulted, vice ridden but utterly focused contemporary philosopher.
With full co-operation from Tupacıs estate, featuring his famous tracks and incredible documentary footage this is a legitimate testament to the amazing life of one of the most important figures in 20th Century black culture.
Revolver Entertainment will be holding a central London screening in the next few weeks.
